Team Shine Achievement Award

1.       Received two distinctive T.E.A.M S.H.I.N.E Awards during the 16th District 17 conference held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza last August 26-29, 2011.

a.       Team Shine Achievement Award- 3rd Place

For well rounded variety of service projects that incorporate the main thrust of Zonta International and the Team Shine goals benefiting a wide array of marginalize women of all ages.

 

b.       Team Shine-Visibility of Public Relations Award- 3rd Place

For being highly visible in printed media and for aligning with like-minded organizations in furthering the message of Zonta.

Adopt A School Program

The purpose of the project is to respond to R.A. 8525, an act establishing an Adopt –A- Public School Program, to provide quality education to the Filipino youth and encourage private initiative to support public education.

Memorandum of Agreement was signed with Go-Thong Elementary School for a 5-year (2006-2011) support services. Upgrade school existing facilities by donating wooden desk chairs, computers, electric fans, office equipment such as fax machines, printers, school supplies for students and faculties

Women’s Health- Early Cancer Detection Screening

In partnership with Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) and Cebu Women’s Club, Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) committee conducted an early cancer detection screening of the vital reproductive organs targeting barangay Guadalupe

The key to cervical cancer prevention is early detection. The national campaign slogan  “Babae, Mahalaga ka,” which encouraged Filipinas to get checked regularly through free cervical cancer screenings. When detected in its early stage, cervical cancer is still curable

The event screened over 125 marginalized women and any clinical findings and treatments were followed by the Cebu Women’s Club. Breast cancer awareness through education on self-breast cancer screening were also demonstrated.

Area 3 conference

Cebu hosted the Area 3 Conference held at Marco Polo Hotel last October 22-24, 2011. The theme was “Women Empowering Women: Making a Difference in the Life of Another

The message, “We shall not rest until women’s rights are recognized as human rights”. 

All 11 Zonta Clubs of District 17 Area 3 maintained their continuing projects, specifically their advocacies on Violence Against Women, and No to Teen Pregnancies

Club members in colorful costumes takes the center stage by presenting our traditional fiesta dance.
